SAGE would like to extend our gratitude to all of the incredible nurses and healthcare workers as National Nurses Week comes to a close. Nurses play an integral role in the healthcare system and they continue to keep our communities safe during the pandemic. It’s important that we stand with nurses and call for the repeal of Bill 124. Take action by writing to your local MPP here: https://rnao.ca/policy/action-alerts/repeal-bill-124-premier
The province announces new updates for long-term care home residents and looser visitor restrictions after a month of strict protocols to slow the spread of the Omicron variant.

☎️ Volunteers will be calling their companion for 30-60 minutes weekly starting in January 2022. Volunteers will also benefit from extra training opportunities over the course of their volunteer commitment on topics such as crisis management and mental health engagement. If you are interested in this opportunity, please email info@companionlink.org using the subject header "Nucleus Volunteer Application" by January 21st. To stay updated on opportunities with SAGE, sign up for our mailing list! We are excited to announce our newest partner long-term care home: True Davidson Acres. SAGE volunteers will be connecting with residents at True Davidson Acres over video chat every week in our Companion Calls program. SAGE volunteers and Katharine, SAGE’s Communications Executive, will be going in-person to facilitate these calls. They have a unique opportunity to assist staff and residents with other activities, including recreational programs and mealtimes. SAGE continues to promote Companion Calls while beginning to resume in-person activities. Our Companion Calls program allows seniors and volunteers to engage in meaningful conversation, make new friends, and stay connected.
We are grateful for our volunteers and for True Davidson Acres for making this program possible. True Davidson Acres is a home that values their volunteers and recognizes the important roles they play in promoting senior well-being. If you are interested in becoming a Companion Caller, please complete this form. |
