Companion Calls at Ivan Franko Update

As we emerge from the third COVID-19 wave in Ontario, we want to thank our dedicated Companion Calls volunteers placed at Ivan Franko Homes...

Ivan Franko Homes care for seniors of Ukrainian descent who continue to practice their cultural traditions and communicate with staff in their native language. Since early April, Carol, Charlotte, Karina, and Chehrona have been connecting with and getting to know residents at the home, and have completed 17 Companion Calls so far. COVID-19 continues to restrict visitations in senior living communities and it is crucial that we find safe alternatives until in-person activities can resume. Through Companion Calls, residents can interact with students, reminisce about their most cherished memories, and make new friends. We thank our volunteers for keeping the elderly community connected and for putting a smile on the faces of residents with each call.
